After trying The Oiling Method for my skin I began looking of a natural astringent and came across numerous ads on lemons.  Then as I went a little deeper into my research I found that you can use lemons for far more.

TO LIGHTEN DISCOLORED ELBOWS, KNEES, AND UNDERARMS- Cut a lemon in half and place one elbow in each half for approximately 10 minutes. Lemon’s acids will gently break down the dark patches of skin so they may be washed away.

FOR BEAUTIFUL FEET- Combine 1 cup of lemon juice, 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1/4 cup milk and enough water to fill the basin.  Soak feet for 15 minutes, then rinse with warm water. This recipe used over a course of time will soften feet.

TO FRESHEN BREATH-Use lemon juice to freshen your breath. Lemon has been used for years as a natural breath mint. The acidity in lemons kills germs that cause bad breath.

ASTRINGENT-Squeeze some lemon juice into a glass jar, and dab some onto your face every morning, let it set for 10 minutes, then wash it off with warm water followed by a moisturizer. Fresh lemon juice will last for 4-5 days.

EXFOLIATE DEAD SKIN-To create a skin scrub. Gently rub a cut lemon and 1/2 teaspoon sugar granules ( or brown sugar) over the skin for a few minutes. Repeat at least once a week until the darkened areas fade.

ADD LEMON TO CONDITIONER- For hair with bounce and shine mix the juice of one lemon with one cup warm water and apply to hair. Allow to remain for a few minutes and rinse.

LEMON JUICE TO LIGHTEN HAIR- Take two lemons and squeeze the juice into a quart of water. After Shampooing add the mixture to your hair and sit in sunlight.  For lighter tones your hair will turn blonde and darker hair get redish highlights…..BE SURE TO DEEP CONDITION AFTERWARDS.
