Clarol- 7G Very Blonde

After months of deciding whether or not I wanted to color my hair chemically or to use henna…After researching I finally decided to go the chemical route…although henna has some awesome benefits such as strengthening, conditioning, and giving shine to your hair…Henna would not give me the vibrant color that I truly wanted! After making that decision I then had to find a color and brand that I was satisfied with.  I chose Clarol Textures & Tones 7G bright blonde which was about 5.00 at Walmart.  Although I really didn’t want a bright blonde they were out of Honey blonde and I was determined not to go to another store so I settled….

WHEN COLORING YOUR HAIR

-READ THE INSTRUCTIONS THOROUGHLY

-DO A STRAND TEST!!! THIS IS A STEP THAT I USUALLY SKIP WHEN I WAS RELAXED BUT ITS BENEFICIAL BECAUSE IT WILL ALLOW YOU TO SEE WHAT COLOR YOUR HAIR WILL ACTUALLY COME OUT WITH OUT OVER PROCESSING.

-MAKE SURE YOU BASE YOUR EDGES (APPLYING GREASE OR VASELINE TO HAIRLINE, AND EARS) THIS PROTECTS YOUR EDGES FROM GETTING IRRITATED..

I love the way the color came out which was a caramel color…NOW MY NEXT TASK IS TO TAKE CARE OF MY HAIR TO ENSURE THAT

Combating Frizz….

Natural Hair is more prone to frizz.  Frizz can also come from over processed hair, excessive colored hair, humidity etc.

Frizz is when

-the cuticle of your hair sticks out instead of laying down smooth

-there is a improper balance of moisture and protein

******STRAND TEST*******

TAKE A STRAND OF WET HAIR, WET IT AND STRETCH IT OUT! IF IT BREAKS IMMEDIATELY THEN YOU NEED MOISTURE…..IF IT STRETCHES OUT WITHOUT BREAKING OR BOUNCING BACK TO ITS ORIGINAL CURL PATTERN THEN YOU NEED PROTEIN.

************************

WAYS TO COMBAT FRIZZ…..

-SHAMPOO LESS FREQUENTLY-use a Low Poo, No Poo or consider Co-Washing if your hair will allow it…(it doesnt work for everyone)

-DEEP CONDITION WEEKLY- For added conditioning add Coconut Milk to your Conditioner.

-USE A LIGHTWEIGHT CONDITIONER

-AVOID PRODUCTS WITH SODIUM LAURETH/LAURYL OR AMMONIUM LAURETH/LAURYL SULFATE-These ingredients in products have been known to strip natural oils and moisture out of your hair.

-DO NOT TOUCH YOUR HAIR- After styling hair and it is still wet AVOID PLAYING IT YOUR HAIR UNTIL COMPLETELY DRY.

-UTILIZE YOUR SATIN SCARF/BONNET/PILLOWCASE- Reduces friction on your style while sleeping.

-MINIMIZE USE OF GELS-Gels that contain alcohols can dry your hair out. Instead consider using a Flaxseed Gel.

-NEVER TOWEL DRY HAIR- Instead use an old T-Shirt and squeeze excess hair using minimal friction.

-USE ESSENTIAL OILS- Such as Jojoba, Coconut, Castor, or Olive Oil just to name a few.

PRODUCTS TO CONSIDER

Infusium

Garnier Fructis

Hot Oil Treatments

IC Fantasia Smoothing Serum

NATURAL REMEDIES-LEMONS

After trying The Oiling Method for my skin I began looking of a natural astringent and came across numerous ads on lemons.  Then as I went a little deeper into my research I found that you can use lemons for far more.

LEMONS CAN…..

FOR THE BODY

TO LIGHTEN DISCOLORED ELBOWS, KNEES, AND UNDERARMS- Cut a lemon in half and place one elbow in each half for approximately 10 minutes. Lemon’s acids will gently break down the dark patches of skin so they may be washed away.

FOR BEAUTIFUL FEET- Combine 1 cup of lemon juice, 2 tablespoons olive oil, 1/4 cup milk and enough water to fill the basin.  Soak feet for 15 minutes, then rinse with warm water. This recipe used over a course of time will soften feet.

TO FRESHEN BREATH-Use lemon juice to freshen your breath. Lemon has been used for years as a natural breath mint. The acidity in lemons kills germs that cause bad breath.

FOR FACE

ASTRINGENT-Squeeze some lemon juice into a glass jar, and dab some onto your face every morning, let it set for 10 minutes, then wash it off with warm water followed by a moisturizer. Fresh lemon juice will last for 4-5 days.

EXFOLIATE DEAD SKIN-To create a skin scrub. Gently rub a cut lemon and 1/2 teaspoon sugar granules ( or brown sugar) over the skin for a few minutes. Repeat at least once a week until the darkened areas fade.

FOR HAIR

ADD LEMON TO CONDITIONER- For hair with bounce and shine mix the juice of one lemon with one cup warm water and apply to hair. Allow to remain for a few minutes and rinse.

LEMON JUICE TO LIGHTEN HAIR- Take two lemons and squeeze the juice into a quart of water. After Shampooing add the mixture to your hair and sit in sunlight.  For lighter tones your hair will turn blonde and darker hair get redish highlights…..BE SURE TO DEEP CONDITION AFTERWARDS.
